The government has extended the last day to file certain Income Tax compliances considering the ongoing covid-19 adversity. The Central Board Of Direct Tax (CBDT) received various requests to extend the deadline by the contributor due to several difficulties being faced by them during such time. With respect to this, the CBDT has finally granted certain relaxation for the taxpayers U/s 166 of the Income Tax Act,1961, today (1/05/2021).
The below relaxation is based on the CBDT circular No. 8/2021 in F. No. 225/49/2021/ITA-II dated 30.04.2021 which is obtainable on the Income Tax India website (www.incometaxindia.gov.in)
- The last date for filing the Appeal to Commissioner which was 1st April, 2021 has been extended till 31st May, 2021 or the time provided under the section, whichever is later.
- The last date for filing the Objection to Dispute Resolution Panel (DRP) which was 1st April, 2021 has been extended till 31st May, 2021 or the time provided U/s 144 C, whichever is later.
- The last date for filing the Income – tax return on the notice U/s 148 which was 1st April, 2021 has been extended till 31st May, 2021 or the time provided under the notice, whichever is later.
- The last date for filing the delayed return under sub-section (4) and (5) U/s 139 of the Income Tax Act, 1961 which was 31st March, 2021 has been extended till 31st May, 2021.
- The last date for payment of the tax deducted U/s 194 IA, 194 IB and 194 M of Income Tax Act,1961 and filing of the statement for the same which was 30th April, 2021 has been extended till 31st May, 2021.
- The last date to file the Statement in Form No.61 which included the declaration of Form No.60 which was 30th April, 2021 has been extended till 31st May, 2021.
The above relaxation was introduced to ease the compliance difficulties being faced by various stakeholders. In the light of present tribulation these were the latest notifications of timeline provided by CBDT.
